Senior Desktop Support Tech - System Engineer

Job Summary:

This position will provide system engineering support to clients of Uptime IT Solutions., while operating a variety of on-premise and cloud-based network technologies. As a mid-level System Engineer, you will primarily be responsible for responding to device and client generated support tickets. These range from service requests (move, add, change, delete) to troubleshooting and break/fix tickets. Additional duties may include assisting with the network specific components of client on-boardings and disaster recovery tests.

Job Responsibilities:

Vector

50% ticket-based service requests and break/fix.

Vector

50% other activities (on-boarding clients, on-site maintenance, infrastructure planning, etc.).

Vector

Part of team on-call rotation.

Vector

Valid Driver License and operable vehicle.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

Vector

Minimum 3 years of experience in a system engineer role, preferably in a managed service provider environment.

Vector

Prior help desk support and/or customer service experience.

Vector

Working experience with TCP/IP route/switch technologies.

Vector

Working experience with network security technologies such as firewalls, routers, and VPNs including Cisco, and FortiGate firewall products.

Vector

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Server, Office 365 and Azure admin.

Skills and Abilities:

Vector

Advanced understanding of operating system network administration (Microsoft Shop mainly).

Vector

History of clean and consistent network racking, cabling, and labeling practices.

Vector

History of creating and maintaining robust network documentation (diagrams, port maps, etc.).

Vector

Excellent logical troubleshooting skills.

Vector

Ability to contribute to a team as part of an on-call rotation.

Vector

Ability to lift objects up to 50lbs.

Vector

The following are not required but a plus.

Vector

Industry vendor certifications (Microsoft, Cisco, FortiGate, etc.).

Vector

Experience with Microsoft Server 2003 and newer server environment.

Vector

Experience with PowerShell, similar scripting languages.

Vector

Experience with Hospitality POS solutions.
